For the first time in its history, the process is open and transparent, and not done as a backroom deal between the P5 in the Security Council. Candidates are openly nominated, their CVs are public and candidates will be interviewed. Ordinary citizens can for the first time submit questions to the candidates to UN-NGLS by 20 March as tweets, emails, video or audio.
